A few of you have asked up for an update on the boil order from Lukins Brothers Water Co. Here's what we know. Tests needed to lift a boil order for Lukins Brothers Water Co. customers are pending. The order was enacted Nov. 14 after the system tested positive for coliform bacteria. The system was chlorinated and flushed. Two rounds of negative results are needed for California Department of Health to lift the order. A first round of testing should be done Tuesday. If negative, the system would be retested with results back Wednesday. The system tested positive for total coliform, an indicator other potentially harmful bacteria could have entered the water system. The system tested negative for E. coli., a harmful strain of the bacteria. Customers should continue to boil tap water for at least one minute or buy bottled water for their drinking and cooking needs.
