This 5-year-old Northern California boy is a hero!
Miles Scott -- who was diagnosed with was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 18 months old -- completed his mission as “Batkid” this afternoon.
He successfully saved a damsel in distress, rescued the San Francisco Giants’ mascot Lou Seal from The Penguin, and defeated the Riddler, all while captivating audiences. The elaborate setup to make little Miles’ dream come true was coordinated by Make-A-Wish Foundation. Even President Obama and the FBI got in on the action.

The Lompoc Filipino-American Club, in a partnership with Samantha’s Filipino-American Diner, will host a fundraiser on Nov. 23 to help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. As part of their Master’s thesis, a team of students from the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UCSB is working on a project evaluating offshore wind energy potential along the California central coast (defined as Oxnard to San Luis Obispo for this project). The three basic objectives of the project are to:
Gain an understanding of stakeholder knowledge and opinions regarding offshore wind power,
a***yze the regulatory and permitting pathway, and
Conduct a spatial a***ysis of possible project locations.
To capture stakeholder opinion, the team has prepared a general public survey which should take 5-10 minutes to complete.
